  AM BROADCAST ANTENNA MINIMUM HEIGHT REGULATIONS
  PREEMPT LOCAL ZONING REGULATIONS


  For the first time, a court has held that the FCC's AM broadcast
antenna minimum height regulations preempt local zoning regulations.
The decision was unanimous, and was rendered at the New Hampshire
Supreme Court level.  Fred Hopengarten, Esq., K1VR, <hopengarten@post.harvard.edu>,
argued on behalf of the plaintiff.


  This decision paves the way for Bob Vinikoor's (W3CFE) WQTH(AM) which,
at 720 kHz and 50,000 watts, will become one of the biggest AM signals
in northern New England.
